How many of us struggle with feeling too fat, too thin, not pretty, old, inadequate? How many of us are always seeking our daily affirmations that we are worthy and good. We go from a self help book to the next trying to figure out and reassure ourselves that we are enough. I’m sure all of us at one point or another have felt these feelings, I know it has been a life long struggle for me. There are a lot of reasons we end up feeling this way, and it always circles back to some sort of abuse. Bullying, verbal, emotional or physical. Of course the enemy loves these events because it is an opportunity for him to take hold of us, to use these events to remind us of these self doubts.
But there is really good news, and his name is Jesus!
When we accept Jesus into our lives and start to build a relationship with Him we begin to understand that his love is unconditional, something some of us have not had a lot of experience with; we begin to learn what this type of love looks like in him. We begin to trust in him. When we experience unconditional love in Jesus, he will reassure us that we are enough when we are in him, we are able to see ourselves in a different light.
God does not make mistakes, he made us in his image.
Those feelings I mentioned at the beginning of this post are all lies from the enemy to keep us so preoccupied with trying to figure them out and improve ourselves that we lose sight of what matters. Our relationship with the Lord.
Take those self doubts, those feelings of not being enough and take them to Jesus. Ask him to help you realize you are enough, to show you what that means. He is faithful when we reach out to him and seek the relationship we are called to have, to become a new creation in Him. In Christ we are made complete and fully accepted.
Lord, I offer up to you all the feelings of inadequacy and self doubt, I know you made me in your image and I reject any accusations that contradict that fact. Lord, I ask you to help me realize and believe that I am enough in you. You are a God of peace and love and I choose to rest in you knowing you love me unconditionally.
In Jesus Name – Amen!
